Job Summary

The Field Service Technician III will play a critical role in delivering exceptional customer experiences at our service locations. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for providing top-notch technical support, collaborating with internal partners, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Support pre-production vehicle builds, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Travel to locations as needed to support service operations, including production plants.
  • Operate remotely until local service centers are established, if applicable.
  • Follow Rivian's repair procedures with precision, prioritizing quality and safety.
  • Perform or assist with vehicle diagnoses, repairs, installations, and inspections.
  • Conduct road tests to verify the quality of repairs.
  • Manage parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory management.
  • Stay up-to-date with technical skills and required training.
  • Support campaigns and containment initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate expense reporting as needed.
  • Work efficiently with minimal supervision, maintaining high-quality work and productivity.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Provide service support to the field, ensuring seamless service operations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and internal partners, demonstrating a high level of professionalism.
  • Additional plant support, including travel, may be required based on business needs.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a traditional automotive repair shop preferred.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
  • Proficiency in navigating laptops or computers in a Windows or Mac environment.
  • Basic knowledge of diagnosis and workflows.
  • Able to read electrical schematics.
  • Limited diagnostic exposure.
  • Understanding of high voltage and low voltage electricity (basic electricity theory).
  • Able to perform tire repair and vehicle alignment.
  • Some hybrid repair background is a plus.
  • Ability to diagnose and explain basic vehicle electronic communications (CAN Bus system).
  • Ability to drive non-commercial trucks and trailers preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, or as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • No driving-related suspensions or revocation of Driver License within a 3-5 year period.
  • Parts department and billing experience preferred.
  • Experience using work order management systems, including repair documentation.
  • Experience working in start-up environments preferred.
  • Patience and eagerness to learn.
  • Remains positive in challenging situations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Physical exertion may be required for occupational tasks (sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.).
  • Frequent use of hands for grasping and using tools correctly, entering data, writing communications, or calling customers or internal partners.
  • Ability to read and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to see, read, and interpret documents (governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or schematics).
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Availability for a regular schedule of 40 hours a week, including weekends and holidays, according to business needs.
