We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MRI Technologist to join our team at WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals. As a key member of our Radiology Department, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of diagnostic procedures utilizing a magnetic resonance scanner.
Key Responsibilities- Perform imaging procedures based on assessment of the patient's status, request of the service, and imaging protocols.
- Ensure MRI Safety precautions to patients, families, co-workers, and any other individuals that may come in contact with the MRI scan room area.
- Assess patient's needs and provide imaging related to comfort, hygiene, and range of motion, and provide support accordingly.
- Prepare contrast agents which are utilized for the MRI procedure according to procedural guidelines and protocols.
- Educate patients regarding MRI procedures and contrast media by explaining the procedure and answering questions accordingly.
- Promote the team approach to providing Radiology services by positively interacting with the technical, support, nursing, residents, and medical staff.
- Engage in problem solving, crisis management, and systems implementation throughout the hospital to promote and support efficient, high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Instruct MRI/Radiography students as needed in support of the radiology education program.
- Display imaging techniques, patient care, and guest relation behaviors in accordance with the ARRT Code of Ethics, WVUH Administrative Policies and Procedures, Radiology Department Policies and Procedures, State and Federal Regulations, and The Joint Commission guidelines.
- Report equipment failures to management immediately upon identification and notify proper individuals that service is needed.
- Complete all in-services and competencies by the required date and apply knowledge gained.
- Complete all necessary QA in accordance with the American College of Radiology.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- MRI Certification through ARRT or ARMRIT within 1 year of hire.
- West Virginia State Licensure as an MRI Tech, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed (excluding Pennsylvania).
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
- One (1) year experience in working in MRI.
