Job Summary

HILGARTWILSON, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a skilled Civil Designer/EIT to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be highly organized, and have a good problem-solving ability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble construction plans and prepare submittals for reviewing agencies.
  • Organize and schedule work to accomplish goals on projects within established budgets and timelines.
  • Coordinate with Cad Techs and other design team members.
  • Design small, basic projects or perform task-oriented design of more complex projects.
  • Research and conform to applicable city/agency design guidelines, codes, and checklists.
  • Research and acquire as-built information for the horizontal and vertical design to existing constraints.
  • Layout developments based on conceptual site plans.
  • Perform vertical grading design and earthwork analysis.
  • Prepare drainage calculations.
  • Assist with preparation of feasibility studies.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
  • Ensure quality control and work with CAD staff to ensure plans reflect the project design.
  • Perform various other design tasks under the direction of others.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 0 to 4 years of experience in civil engineering design.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is preferred, or ability to pass the FE exam within 12 months of employment.
  • Experience in land development or site/commercial preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required, Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Computer design skills including spreadsheets and scheduling.
  • Capable of preparing design on most projects.
  • Possess understanding of civil engineering principles and construction plans.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
