Licensed Practice Nurse in Pulmonary Function Testing

Key Responsibilities:
- The Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist/Licensed Practice Nurse (CPFT/LPN) is responsible for conducting a range of pulmonary diagnostic assessments, which include pulmonary function tests, oximetry, FENO testing, home sleep studies, and the administration of durable medical equipment (DME).
- This role involves performing routine quality control evaluations on pulmonary function equipment and managing patient records. The CPFT/LPN operates independently within the Pulmonary Function laboratory.
- AHA-BLS certification is necessary; however, it is not a prerequisite for securing the position.
- The CPFT/LPN will also provide patient care in the capacity of an LPN as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practice Nurse in New York State is required.
- Certification as a Registered or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist is preferred.
- LPN candidates who hold NBRC (National Board of Respiratory Care) certification as a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist or are eligible for such certification will be prioritized.
- LPNs who are not currently eligible for NBRC certification must complete 62 credit hours required for credentialing within one year of hire from an accredited institution, including courses in biology, chemistry, and mathematics.
- AHA-BLS certification must be obtained within six months of hire, or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be accepted until the renewal date.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in Medical Office settings, Pulmonary Function Testing, and DME.
- As applicable, the individual should possess training and competency in addressing the special needs and behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients receiving care.
