Funeral Services Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified Funeral Services Instructor to join our team at the State of South Carolina. As a key member of our academic staff, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and coordinating the Funeral Services program.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching Performance: Provide students with a comprehensive course syllabus, grading and attendance policies, and other relevant information in a timely manner. Relate instructional practical examples and illustrations, pace instruction over the semester, and provide timely tests and feedback.
- Instructional Development: Develop and maintain course documentation, review and select textbooks, maintain audio-visual and other materials, and be organized and well-prepared for class. Coordinate weekend and summer events and activities, order supplies for curriculum, and manage the program budget.
- Student Advisement: Maintain required office hours, publicize availability, refer students to other persons for assistance, and maintain appropriate records. Meet with students in a timely manner and display sensitivity to their needs and problems.
- College and/or Community Service: Assist with recruitment, assist with job and transfer placement recommendations, cooperate with or participate in projects and activities of other instructional and support areas, and serve effectively on college and community committees.
- Instructional Management: Submit reports in a timely manner, arrange the physical environment for effective learning, provide effective classrooms and lab supervision, maintain accurate records, and provide disciplinary action where necessary.
- Professional Development: Develop an annual professional development plan in conjunction with the supervisor, attend courses, seminars, and workshops as required or planned, write manuscripts or present papers at conferences, and complete research projects in the subject field.
- An associate degree in mortuary science or a related field.
- Graduate of an ABFSE program.
- Possess a South Carolina Funeral Director/Embalmer License or be able to reciprocate to an SC license prior to starting.
- Minimum of three years of embalming and restoration art experience.
- Bachelor's degree in mortuary science or a related field.
