GL Staffing is seeking a highly skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our quality management team, you will be responsible for ensuring that we consistently receive high-quality materials from our suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand raw material requirements for new product development (NPD) items.
- Work with inspection teams to inspect and document first articles as required.
- Perform capability analysis (Cp/Cpk) to ensure suppliers and internal processes can consistently supply good products.
- Effectively communicate problem statements to suppliers through the supplier corrective action request (SCAR) process and form.
- Monitor SCAR lists weekly and follow up with suppliers with past due open SCARs.
- Offer support and resources to ensure suppliers perform thorough root cause investigations addressing SCARs.
- Ensure corrective actions stemming from SCARs are validated in the next visit or audit of the supplier's operation.
- Hold quarterly phone calls with key quality contacts at critical suppliers.
- Offer resources, information, and training on LEAN/Six-Sigma tools.
- Recommend equipment and processes to enable suppliers to comply with our requirements.
- Analyze suppliers from a weakness standpoint and communicate requirements for continued growth.
- Document all suggestions, support, and results in a quarterly supplier report for critical suppliers.
- Work with production supervisors and the director of quality control and continuous improvement to prioritize projects.
- Ensure supplier audit checklists are current and relevant to fabricator certification clauses.
- Create annual supplier audit schedules based on documented audit frequency parameters and critical supplier lists.
- Build effective relationships with key quality personnel at critical suppliers.
- Confirm corrective actions resulting from SCARs have been implemented and sustained.
- Communicate audit reports and support implementation of corrective actions addressing observations and findings.
- Support development and growth and alert the business if a supplier does not have the necessary capability and/or capacity to supply current and future demand.
- Confirm that suppliers are complying with the Product Change Notification (PCN) Policy.
- Maintain all supplier quality standard operating procedures (SOPs), forms, checklists, standard work, and associated documentation.
- Create and maintain quantitative, clear, and achievable metrics that align with the Quality Control and Continuous Improvement Department goals and objectives.
- Maintain, update, and integrate Cority QMS software facilities as required.
- Maintain and present dashboards, projects, and action item lists relevant to the quality team.
- Support quality inspectors with first article inspection, quality alerts, data analysis, etc.
- Communicate effectively with quality inspectors and engineering to ensure everyone is on the same page with internal and supplier changes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (Mechanical, Industrial, etc.)
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification a plus
- Lean Certification a plus
- Trained Auditor a plus
- Experience visiting and auditing suppliers a plus
- ERP system experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
- Experience with Lean material management and SAP software a plus
- Experience with supplier corrective action request (SCARS)
- Kaizen event leadership and coordination experience a plus
- Poka-yoke experience a plus
