Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer assistance across all areas of branch operations where support is required.
  • Process transactions and new account openings accurately and promptly.
  • Continuously seek enhancements to processes that elevate customer satisfaction and relay suggestions to Branch Management.
  • Evaluate and fulfill retail banking needs while gathering and processing customer information, including cash handling.
  • Open and manage accounts while identifying cross-selling opportunities for both new and existing clients.
  • Engage with potential and current customers to foster new business by promoting the bank's services and products, aiming to strengthen relationships and enhance profitability.
  • Exhibit outstanding customer service and sales abilities while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in all account documentation.
  • Mitigate risks associated with losses, including cash discrepancies and other controllable factors.
  • Stay informed about all relevant Federal and State regulations, as well as the bank's policies and procedures.
  • Execute teller transactions with precision and timeliness (e.g., deposits, withdrawals, payments, transfers, check cashing, negotiable purchasing, etc.).
  • Verify the accuracy of coin and currency amounts related to cash shipments.
  • Make informed decisions regarding customer service and banking risks, effectively balancing both aspects. Recognize when to escalate issues to management for resolution.
  • Continuously explore efficient, cost-effective, and productive methods to complete tasks without compromising excellent customer service.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitor products, services, and promotions.
  • Ensure proper coverage for adherence to dual control protocols.
  • Complete monthly branch certifications to summarize audits, teller discrepancies, and operational duties accurately and timely.
  • Manage supply levels and utilize appropriate forms for requisitioning supplies.
  • Guarantee that Tellers balance their drawers daily in accordance with bank policy.
  • Adhere strictly to all bank policies regarding cash handling and balancing.
  • Establish clear and ongoing communication with management.
  • Comply with the guidelines outlined in the BYB Branch Survival Guide.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a banking environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a teller, personal banker, or universal banker is advantageous.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • A collaborative team player with a strong eagerness to learn, demonstrating leadership abilities, independent judgment, and creativity while thriving in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Familiarity with banking regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledgeable about a diverse range of retail banking products and administrative support.
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, accurately, and clearly with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds.
  • Reliable transportation is essential as travel to multiple branches is required.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 50% of the time.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Typical office environment involving frequent sitting, walking, and standing, with occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Regular use of hand-eye coordination is necessary for operating office equipment. Oral and auditory capabilities are required for interpersonal communication and interaction with automated devices.
