Position Overview: The Atomization Operations Technician will play a crucial role in supporting the Operations division at AMETEK by providing essential daily operational assistance at the Eighty Four Plant.

This role emphasizes the importance of safety while achieving production targets and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations established by the company.
  • Charge raw materials into furnaces to ensure efficient and uninterrupted melting processes.
  • Establish and maintain optimal conditions for pouring molten metal into the atomizing chamber.
  • Pour molten metal into the atomizing chamber with precision.
  • Assess the condition of refractory components to prevent failures during melting and ensure optimal atomizing conditions.
  • Perform maintenance on refractory components in furnace and tundish assemblies as required.
  • Keep accurate records of atomizing and melting activities.
  • Change out plenums, top hat assemblies, nozzles, and switch pumps as necessary.
  • Document pour temperatures, atomization pressures, and water flow rates for each heat, noting any downtime.
  • Conduct housekeeping duties in assigned areas and assist in other areas as needed.
  • Provide training to colleagues in a safe and effective manner.
  • Assist in the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures and related documentation.
  • Utilize computer systems to access packing SOPs and print labels.
  • Package metal powder in various shipping containers according to the daily Packing Schedule.
  • Operate forklifts and cranes for loading and unloading materials and transporting items within the warehouse.
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage and verify quantities against shipping documents.
  • Prepare finished atomized products for shipment by stretch-wrapping and banding as necessary.
  • Load and unload composite scrap from heat treating furnaces as required.
  • Apply appropriate labels to packaged products for shipping.
  • Ensure the accuracy of packaged products against packing lists.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work area and perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Implement proper dust control measures during all job functions.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
