Job Summary:

As a Ready Mix Driver - Aggregate Specialist with Colas, you will be responsible for operating a commercial truck equipped with an auxiliary mixer to deliver ready-mix concrete to job sites. This role is integral to our ready-mix supply operations, offering a challenging and rewarding work experience with opportunities to work with internal and external customers on a daily basis.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies.
  • Maneuver the truck under loading hopper to receive sand, gravel, cement, and water and start the mixer.
  • Slump loads to specifications/requirements.
  • Drive the truck to location for unloading and ensure conditions at the job site are safe.
  • Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Assemble chutes and attach them to the truck; operate controls on the truck to release concrete down the truck chute into a wheelbarrow or other conveying container or directly into the area to be poured with concrete.
  • Perform daily pre and post-trip safety checks on equipment and truck to assure a safe vehicle; document any maintenance that may be required.
  • Clean the truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening on the mixer and on the truck.
  • May operate other equipment such as loaders, skid steers, fork lifts, and dump trucks.
  • Assist with the form/pour/strip of precast products.
  • May spray surfaces of the truck with a protective/cleaning compound to prevent adhering of concrete.
  • Assist work crews as required; assist with maintenance of the plant and equipment.
  • Maintain necessary logs, timecards, and other required paperwork.
Education/Experience:

Class B CDL with Air Brakes and a clean driving history.

Skills:
  • At least 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Basic industrial truck maintenance experience preferred, but not required.
  • Prior experience working with concrete production, construction, and/or related fields preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a clean driving record and compliance with applicable FMCSA CDL driver requirements.
  • Ability to work with multiple types of individuals and interact professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to read and write, and understand basic documents.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard, and/or mobile device.

Regularly required to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information.

Regularly required to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess.

Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) and perform tasks requiring visual acuity.

Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain.

Frequently work near heavy equipment and machinery; exposure to loud noise.

Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.

Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals.

Benefits and Perks:

Compensation: $25-$28/hour DOE.
