Job Summary:
GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Tractor Trailer Driver to join our team. As a Tractor Trailer Driver, you will be responsible for operating a tractor-trailer truck on an assigned route to service customers in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate tractor-trailer truck and on-board hydraulic systems on assigned route
- Ensure load is secure and properly loaded
- Empty trailer when dumping a load
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections
- Communicate mechanical problems to supervisor
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and organization
- Comply with all safety standards and regulations
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups
- Attend safety and branch meetings to stay informed and up-to-date
- Perform other duties as required to support the team
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate
- Ability to safely operate the truck and equipment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance
- Ability to control equipment and maneuver the truck
- Effective communication skills to interact with customers and team members
- Ability to lift 50 pounds using proper techniques
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Ability to drive a vehicle up to 80,000 lbs
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Varied physical demands, including standing, walking, and lifting
- Visual requirements for operating a vehicle
- Work in loud conditions and varying weather
Working Conditions:
- Exposed to various environmental conditions, including weather and road conditions
- Work outdoors and drive through motor vehicle traffic constantly
