Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer pantry initiatives in alignment with The Salvation Army's mission, guidelines, and financial parameters.
  • Supervise pantry functions, including sorting, storing, showcasing, and distributing food items while maintaining an accurate inventory.
  • Ensure pantry and storage areas are kept clean and organized.
  • Adhere to TEFAP regulations for food handling and storage.
  • Collaborate with local food banks to procure food based on inventory and client needs, advising the Community Engagement Specialist or Corps Officer on purchases.
  • Execute opening and closing protocols for the pantry as per the schedule set by the Community Engagement Specialist and Corps Officer.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers assisting in pantry operations.
  • Register pantry clients in compliance with TEFAP data collection standards, assisting them in selecting groceries, frozen goods, produce, and personal care items.
  • Conduct daily inspections of freezers to ensure operational efficiency and proper temperature logging.
  • Generate and maintain accurate records, reports, and statistics for pantry programs.
  • Complete necessary documentation for clients and input data into Service Point.
  • Manage TEFAP data and ensure accurate entry into designated databases.
  • Track all statistics required for reporting to DHQ and state authorities.
  • Engage with other community pantries for collaboration.
  • Organize food pickups from local retailers and restaurants.
  • Solicit food donations from local businesses.
  • Ensure regular stock rotation.
  • Refer clients to the Community Engagement Specialist for additional services as needed.
  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in food drives and events that support the pantry.
  • Transport food donations and pantry supplies as necessary.
  • Coordinate the Mobile Food Pantry program, ensuring weekly food deliveries to various locations.
