MKEC Engineering Consultants is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Industrial/Energy group in Wichita, Kansas. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for refining, gas processing, and other related process facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare electrical equipment specifications for MCCs, switchgear, substations, and electrical equipment selection.
- Review specifications, drawings, and vendor equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements.
- Apply design knowledge in power distribution, grounding, lighting, control systems, and equipment specification and selection.
- Complete projects with specified electrical deliverables, including equipment supplier bid evaluation, load list, electrical equipment, cable and conduit schedules, generator sizing, one-line diagrams for low and medium voltage, hazardous area classification drawings, and ground grid design.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and building codes.
- Demonstrated experience with electrical design projects, including coordination with other engineering disciplines for oil and gas facilities.
- Demonstrated experience in low and medium voltage power distribution, including power system design, equipment/protective device sizing, and power system studies.
- Demonstrated experience with single-line diagrams, area classifications, power and control schematics, wiring design, raceway design specific to tray and conduit systems, lighting and grounding design, and electrical installation details.
- Understanding of engineering specifications with motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, soft starters, and UPS systems.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple project tasks. Excellent presentation and written communication skills, time management, and organizational skills are required.
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines, be self-directed, exhibit good business judgment, and handle confidential information appropriately.
- PE license is preferred.
- Proficient user of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet).
- Compliance with MKEC and client drug/alcohol and safety programs.
