We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Clinician to join our Hematologic Malignancy and Cellular Therapy outpatient team in the MPN/Leukemia Clinic at Duke University.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have exceptional internal medicine skills and oncology experience, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. As a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner, you will provide direct patient care services, promoting high standards of care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform thorough physical examinations.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post-treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, and treatment toxicities.
  • Formulate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgment, including prescribing medications as needed.
  • Chart patient progress, maintaining detailed and accurate health records.
  • Participate in clinical research projects, understanding the importance of documentation of toxicities and data collection.
  • Communicate effectively among multidisciplinary teams to support patient care.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members to build strong relationships and provide exceptional patient care.
  • Participate in the education of patients, family members, new staff, students, and other learners.
  • Perform procedures, including bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, and skin biopsies, as needed.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioners: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, with a Bachelor's degree required and a Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Certification: Physician Assistant Certification and Nurse Practitioner Licensure and Certification.
  • License: Licensed in the State of North Carolina, with BLS required and ACLS preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ years of oncology APP experience strongly preferred.
