About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Facilities Management Services. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess existing electrical systems and develop scope for replacement and upgrade in accordance with USC Design standards and best practices.
  • Support design and implementation of engineering projects, collaborating with other support program team members on updating Facility Design Guidelines and university best practices.
  • Perform engineering analysis and design for assigned projects, developing documentation in the form of drawings and specifications for bid and construction.
  • Ensure project drawings and specifications comply with university standards and specifications, as well as federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Provide construction phase support, including review of submittals, documents interpretation, and field observation.
  • Develop, monitor, and implement policies, processes, standards, and guidelines for various facility systems, such as electrical, mechanical, or plumbing systems, to maintain quality control of project types and sizes.
  • Recommend best industry practices to support improving unit processes for meeting user needs.
  • Serve as program manager for Facilities Management Services-related programs and all individual projects encapsulated in programs, providing leadership and direction on all project operations and activities.
  • Identify appropriate strategies to ensure delivery of quality services with available resources.
  • Provide technical expertise and support and management to Facilities Management Services as it relates to utility infrastructure, energy management, and environmental compliance.
  • Interpret federal, state, and local regulations to ensure compliance with existing regulations.
  • Oversee, initiate, and review feasibility studies to determine whether design concepts are compatible within existing infrastructures.
  • Develop and recommend changes to design concepts, as necessary.
  • Inspect current building systems, such as AC units, automatic controls, and lights, and determine whether systems need to be repaired, replaced, or retrofitted.
  • Recommend equipment or systems to install.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience/education.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical design and operation, or equivalent experience/education.
  • Professional Engineering license (PE) a plus.
  • Experience in facilities management and/or installation/construction experience specifically related to mechanical trade a plus.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
