Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Urologist to join our team at the Veterans Health Administration. As a Urologist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to our patients, including diagnosing and treating medical and surgical disorders of the genitourinary system and the adrenal gland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat (surgically or medically), and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting with medical and surgical disorders of the genitourinary system and the adrenal gland.
  • May provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies.
  • Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience

Applicants for initial appointment must be able to demonstrate performance urological procedures, reflective of the scope of privileges requested during the past 12 months, or demonstrate successful completion of an ACGME, or AOA accredited residency, clinical fellowship, or research in a clinical setting within the past 12 months.

Physical Requirements

Heavy lifting, 45 pounds and over; moderate carrying 15-44 pounds straight pulling (1 hour); pushing (1 hour); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (3 hours); standing (3 hours); kneeling (1 hour); repeated bending (1 hour); Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; and hearing (aid permitted).

Education

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
