Position Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Specialist is responsible for conducting routine and specialized diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures across various sections of the Clinical Laboratory. This role ensures that all tasks are performed accurately and reliably, adhering to established policies and procedures. The sections include Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. Occasionally, this position may involve supervising a small team and providing training to new staff members.
Experience Required: A minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting as a Medical Technologist, meeting or exceeding the regulatory CLIA testing personnel requirements.
Educational Background: A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a related discipline is essential.
Licenses and Certifications: Preferred certifications include ASCP/ASMT/NCA/HHS/ASPT; candidates should be board-eligible for MT certification.
Essential Skills: Strong customer service abilities, proficiency in computer applications, mathematical skills, and effective verbal and written communication skills at a college level are required. The role necessitates both instrumental and manual skills, which are typically developed during the training phase.
Interpersonal Contacts: The position involves occasional external communication for information exchange and regular interaction with other departments, requiring tact and discretion to foster cooperation.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role includes oversight of a small group of employees, with most time spent performing similar tasks as team members.
Supervision Structure: The Clinical Laboratory Specialist operates under general supervision, handling routine assignments and referring complex situations to the immediate supervisor.
Work Schedule: Full-time, day shifts from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with responsibilities including working every third weekend.
