Job Description Summary

The Lead Medical Assistant is the primary point of contact for patient care, responsible for administrative duties and patient care. This role assumes ownership and leads advanced and highly specialized administrative/operational/customer support duties that require independent initiative and judgment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform clinical duties such as discussing symptoms, gathering and inputting information into the electronic medical records system, taking vital signs, giving injections, performing diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms at an outpatient care site.
  • Collaborate closely with Physicians and Nurses to deliver direct patient care dependent on active certification.
  • Decisions regarding daily priorities for an administrative work group and/or external vendors, including coordinating work activities and monitoring progress towards schedules/goals.
  • Oversee the work of others and/or be the primary administrative owner of a main process, program, product, or technology.
Requirements:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • 2 - 4 years of Medical Assistant experience in 'back-office' direct patient care.
  • Experience teaching, training, and coaching other Medical Assistants.
  • Applicable State licensure in field of study (RMA/CMA).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Must be a team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced/high-volume environment.
  • Experience with MS Outlook.
  • Basic Computer knowledge.
  • Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration from the following: American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association, American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Association for Health Professionals, and/or American Medical Technologist.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records.
  • Experience with HEDIS.
