  • Exclusively outpatient clinic
  • Management of acute and chronic care patients
  • Clinic Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
  • Minimal or no on-call duties
  • Patient demographic: ages 10 and above
  • Appointments available: both scheduled and same-day

Minimum Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Practice Nurse

Education: Graduate from a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the State of Texas; a Master's degree is mandatory.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice professional nursing in Texas
  • APRN licensure in Texas with eligibility for full prescriptive authority; may include specialties such as CRNA, CNM, CNS, CNP
  • Certification from a recognized national board in the area of population focus and/or additional specialty recognition
  • Eligibility for DEA licensure
  • Basic or Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification

Physician Assistant

Education: Graduate from a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program; a Master's degree is highly preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc.
  • Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners
  • Eligibility for DEA licensure
  • Basic or Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Preferred two (2) years of clinical experience in the relevant practice area

Principal Accountabilities

  • Conducts health promotion and the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient issues, including the prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient and family needs throughout the disease process and across the health wellness-illness continuum as part of an interdisciplinary team, tailored to the age and needs of the patient population served.
  • For prescriptive authority, the APRN or PA operates under the supervision of a physician, maintaining an active Prescriptive Authority agreement in compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Adheres to approved protocols, guidelines, clinical pathways, and evidence-based medicine.
  • Obtains medical histories; performs physical examinations; reviews, orders, and interprets diagnostic tests and radiographic results; formulates and manages patient treatment plans and outcomes; provides interventions and performs procedures within the legal scope and authority that the APRN or PA is credentialed to perform, including but not limited to incision and drainage, pelvic exams, lesion removal/destruction, suturing, and casting/splinting.
  • Collaborates in the development and evaluation of patient care; updates clinical guidelines, protocols, and pathways; works autonomously and accepts accountability for outcomes; signs orders in accordance with institutional and state board requirements; collaborates in research and teaching projects and applies research to practice.
  • Utilizes interpersonal and verbal communication skills to educate patients and families on care resources; participates in process improvement and multidisciplinary clinical outcome improvement activities utilizing advanced nursing expertise.
  • Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by fulfilling requirements for mandatory and continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals that contribute to the organization's success; serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource for less experienced staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
