Transform Data Governance at Applied Information Sciences

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Governance Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team at Applied Information Sciences. As a company dedicated to our people, we offer a sense of community and opportunities for growth.

We are looking for individuals who share our vision and are eager to drive data governance maturity within the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and in Azure cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement data governance strategies and policies to enhance data governance maturity within OPM and Azure cloud environments.
  • Lead cross-functional data governance teams, influencing stakeholders at various levels to adopt and implement data governance best practices.
  • Drive data governance transformation efforts, fostering a culture of data stewardship and achieving measurable improvements in data quality and governance practices.
  • Apply advanced data governance concepts, including data quality management, data stewardship, and data lineage tracking, to support enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Implement and manage data governance tools and technologies (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, Informatica) to support data governance initiatives.
  • Utilize advanced data profiling techniques, master data management (MDM), data cataloging, and metadata management to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Leverage Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse, Azure Blob Storage) to support data governance and management.
  • Configure and maintain enterprise metadata templates, including data dictionaries, business glossaries, and metrics/KPI glossaries.
  • Establish methods to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications for product teams, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Work in an Agile environment, collaborating with teams to iteratively develop and deliver data governance products.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles, with a focus on leading data governance projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and strategies to influence stakeholders and drive data governance transformation.
  • Advanced knowledge of data governance concepts, data quality management, data stewardship, and data lineage tracking.
  • Experience implementing and managing data governance tools and technologies (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, Informatica).
  • Proficiency in data profiling techniques, master data management, data cataloging, and metadata management.
  • Strong experience with Azure data services and metadata management tools.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy regulations and industry compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA.
  • Experience working in Agile environments, collaborating with teams to deliver data governance products iteratively.
