Role OverviewWe are seeking a law student to join our firm as a Fellow who can commit to a fellowship for the fall 2024 semester or for the whole school year. As a Fellow, you will contribute to legal research, compose legal documents, and assist our criminal defense lawyers in their representation of clients. You will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience in operations, learning about various aspects of the day-to-day operations of a law firm.
Responsibilities- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Compose legal documents and correspondence
- Assist criminal defense lawyers in their representation of clients
- Gain practical experience in operations, including learning about firm management and administration
- Valuable hands-on work experience
- Opportunity to explore and learn about the field of criminal defense law
- Mentorship from experienced paralegals and attorneys
- Letter of recommendation
- Currently enrolled in a JD program (1L, 2L, or 3L students may apply)
- Knowledge or prior experience in criminal defense law
- Spanish fluency a plus
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Slack and Google Suite (Mail, Google Docs, Meet, Calendar, and Excel)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage conflicting priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with all levels of personnel
