Public Health Nurse Specialist

As a Public Health Nurse I with the Department of State Health Services, you will play a vital role in promoting optimum wellness and disease prevention in our communities. This position requires a strong understanding of public health principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
Provides essential public health nursing services as part of the family health services team in assigned communities.
Establishes and maintains community partnerships with stakeholders, including local officials, community leaders, and healthcare providers.
Participates in community assessments, identifies and prioritizes health needs, and plans and implements interventions using evidence-based strategies and best practices.
Develops and implements community health education programs and assists with community preparedness activities.
Represents the Department of State Health Services on local coalitions, school health advisory boards, and other collaborations.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Texas.
Ability to travel throughout the seven-county region as assigned.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work in an autonomous setting and provide guidance to other nurses.
Working Conditions
This position requires extensive travel throughout the seven-county region, as well as the ability to work in a variety of settings, including clinics, homes, and communities. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to public health and a passion for promoting optimum wellness and disease prevention in our communities.
