Job Summary

Lone Star College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Professor of Sociology to teach courses at various times and locations. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Sociology or a related field and a passion for teaching and mentoring students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, teaching Sociology courses, and evaluating student progress. They will also be expected to maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.

This is a part-time position, with a maximum of five classes per academic year. The work schedule will vary depending on class time, and instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a commitment to diversity, and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.

Responsibilities

The Adjunct Professor of Sociology will be responsible for:

  • Teaching Sociology courses at a variety of times and locations
  • Creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  • Submitting required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  • Utilizing a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  • Maintaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  • Attending meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master's degree in Sociology or a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to diversity and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Experience teaching Sociology courses
