A Practical Nursing Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the health, wellness, and preventive care of residents through daily nursing and personal care activities. This position operates under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including administering treatments or medications, executing clinical procedures, and documenting patient clinical data, among other essential tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the well-being and safety of all residents within the nursing unit
- Adheres to individual care plans as established
- Administers and accurately documents medications, treatments, and nursing services
- Conducts inventory of controlled substances in the assigned nursing unit
- Records the current condition of assigned residents in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Provides and receives comprehensive reports on resident conditions during shift changes
- Communicates effectively with the nursing team and medical providers as necessary
- Assists in orienting new staff members
- Maintains proficiency in all tasks required by regulatory standards
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid New York State (LPN) Licensed Practical Nurse license
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
- Basic computer skills; experience with PCC e-MAR preferred
- Physical stamina for frequent activity; ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
