Job Description

Local Grown, LLC is seeking a skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain high-quality food products and procedures.
  • Develop and apply solid knowledge of food products and culinary techniques.
  • Assist in preparation of all aspects of restaurant foods, hot and cold, including banquets and special events.
  • Ensure food quality meets specifications and guarantees.
  • Maintain knowledge and preparation of base sauces, stocks, and soups.
  • Restock kitchen supplies and food items required for service.
  • Properly label and date products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation.
  • Maintain cooling logs using a 6-hour cooling process.
  • Keep the kitchen clean, safe, and sanitary, meeting all kitchen sanitation standards.
  • Assist in health, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Assist in lowering food costs and waste.
  • Ensure products are rotating on a first-in, first-out philosophy.
  • Process requisitions properly and place them in the designated area.
  • Assist in execution of service.
  • Maintain a solid menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Work as a team, assisting guests' and employees' needs and inquiries.
  • Effectively communicate with management, chefs, and service staff to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and employees.
  • Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the company, division, and department.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • 2 Years minimum experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Basic comprehension of English oral and written language.
  • Ability to read and measure recipes.
  • Able to apply basic knife skills required for preparation.
  • Knowledge of weights and measures.
  • Exhibits a basic knowledge, understanding, and application of various cooking techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of cooking utensils and equipment.
  • Experience with hotel and restaurant environments, with exposure to humidity, steam, and extreme temperatures.
  • Exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation rules and regulations.
