Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and adjust ultrasound equipment, ensuring safety precautions are taken to protect patients and personnel from electric shock or other hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their representatives, and staff, explaining exams and instructions, and answering questions related to diagnostic, treatment, and prognosis.
  • Develop and modify procedure plans from health status and medical history, using age and gender-appropriate considerations, and adjust scanning techniques to optimize image quality and spectral waveform characteristics.
  • Analyze sonographic findings to obtain comprehensive exams sufficient for physicians to direct patient management and render a diagnosis.
  • Record diagnostic images and data for use by interpreting physicians, and provide oral summaries of preliminary findings.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Two-year ultrasound program with clinical and didactic education.
