Job Overview

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to lead and mentor junior engineers, engage in innovative projects, and advance their career within our firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the Project Manager for INDOT and Local Public Agency projects, facilitating communication with clients and sub-consultants, while overseeing project timelines and budgets. The role involves assisting in the preparation of Letters of Interest by formulating a Technical Approach for transportation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers on tasks related to bridge design, analysis, calculations, and preparation of construction documents.
  • Serve as the design engineer for bridge and retaining wall projects, conducting scoping, inspections, and load rating assessments.
  • Support the development of project budgets, schedules, and reports, demonstrating a strong grasp of civil engineering principles and specialized software applications.
  • Work in conjunction with other technical staff across various disciplines to deliver comprehensive bridge design and consulting services, primarily for INDOT and local municipalities.
Physical Requirements

This position may involve occasional light lifting, sitting, and walking. Duties will be performed in the field, requiring access to and navigation around project sites, as well as the use of a computer. Travel to project locations is necessary, and the ability to utilize communication and documentation equipment is essential. Visual acuity is required to fulfill job responsibilities.

Educational Background

A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in roadway engineering roles, specifically with INDOT or Local Agency projects.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD and LFD Bridge Design Specifications is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microstation, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and other design modeling software.
  • Experience in leading design teams and mentoring junior engineers is highly valued.
  • A thorough understanding of the Indiana Design Manual and the project development process as required by INDOT and local public agencies is necessary.
