Job Summary

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Information Technology Department, you will play a critical role in planning and directing analysis of data in the Workday Finance system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead areas of support for system administration, including Workday Finance modules such as FDM Support, Ad Hoc, Assets, Banking, Customer Accounts, Endowments, Expenses, Grants, Procurement, Projects, Supplier, Payroll, Benefits, Absence, Business process configuration, Reporting, and Security.
  • Partner with business users to gather requirements and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Investigate and analyze current functionality to identify data integrity issues and misalignments with existing business services policies and procedures.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate processes, systems, and user needs for planned projects based on the business plan of the enterprise.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of Workday Finance System, determining user needs and translating them into business requirements.
  • Consult with functional area management regarding the status of specific projects.
  • Document workflows and results of business analysis.
  • Engage with stakeholders across multiple functional areas to gather, clarify, and document reporting and analytic needs for ad hoc reporting, recurring events, and projects.
  • Determine what data should be selected and evaluated to address and track various business issues.
  • Consult with functional teams on the selection, application, and implementation of metrics.
  • Proactively apply analytical and research skills to monitor trends and elevate issues.
  • Review reports and ensure that financial information has been recorded accurately.
  • Analyze a variety of financial data and produce relevant reports in a clear, concise, and timely manner to answer end-user inquiries.
  • Take ownership of and ensure the integrity of Finance data through the development of audit reports, troubleshoot irregularities, and partner with Functional teams to research, correct discrepancies, and ensure compliance.
  • Remain apprised of new technology, new approaches, and best practices as it relates to Workday Finance and the ability to generate critical data associated with the business.
  • Serve as a key contact for non-routine questions and requests, especially related to Finance systems and data.
  • Extract data, manipulate, explore data using quantitative, statistical, and visualization tools.
  • Synthesize current business intelligence or trend data to support recommendations for action.
  • Work with communication and end-user support teams to develop necessary training materials, communication plans, and post-implementation support.
  • Manage confidentiality of data by following established security/confidentiality standards.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant Workday Financial modules experience.
  • Knowledge of Workday Finance system and modules.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, VBA) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures and Principles.
  • Ability to present business information in a manner easily understood by non-financial professionals.
  • Ability to extract data from Workday financial systems to provide and interpret detailed analysis.
  • Ability to review and troubleshoot discrepancies on financial data.
  • Experience in the ERP environment and tool utilized within the enterprise.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
  • Ability to anticipate, draw conclusions, and adapt to changing needs and demands.
