Job Title: Environmental Services Tech

West Tennessee Healthcare is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Tech to join our team. As an Environmental Services Tech, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Job Summary:

The Environmental Services Tech is responsible for performing cleaning duties in assigned areas, following established schedules and using prescribed methods. This includes emptying waste receptacles, removing trash, damp wiping inside and outside, and relining; dusting and wet mopping floors; polishing metal surfaces; and replenishing supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas, following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
  • Recognize areas that need to be cleaned and take the necessary initiative to clean them.
  • Empty waste receptacles, remove trash, damp wipe inside and outside, and reline.
  • Dust and wet mop floors, polish metal surfaces, and replenish supplies.
  • Perform dismissal cleaning as assigned and spot vacuum carpet.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in clean condition and observe and report equipment, furniture, fixtures, and building malfunctions or deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in cleaning emergency spills and complete low dusting as required.
  • Check drapes or blinds daily and clean per schedule, clean public areas, and check and clean windows and ledges.
  • Respond to called situations or other emergencies and maintain flexibility in work assignments and hours due to changing priorities.
  • Perform the number of dismissal cleanings appropriate to the area and attend and participate in monthly employee meetings and weekly in-service training sessions.
  • Meet and maintain hospital and department uniform and grooming standards.
Requirements:
  • Ability to understand and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and record assignments completed in a basic log.
  • Ability to perform cleaning procedures according to written guidelines as acquired through two weeks of on-the-job training in the department.
Working Conditions:

The Environmental Services Tech will work in a fast-paced environment with high occupancy and traffic. The incumbent will be subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
