Position Overview

The Academic Employee Relations Manager (Administrator I) is a vital role within the Faculty Affairs division at California State University. This position offers a competitive salary range of $7,500 to $9,167 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Compensation and Benefits

As part of the CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP), this role includes a comprehensive benefits package, featuring medical, dental, and vision insurance, participation in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), paid sick leave, vacation time, and 15 paid holidays annually. Eligible employees may also benefit from the fee waiver education program.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs, the Academic Employee Relations Manager operates autonomously and employs sound judgment to address intricate employee relations issues, cases, and programmatic initiatives. This position necessitates an in-depth understanding of employment legislation, collective bargaining agreements, and workplace investigations.

The incumbent will be an integral member of the Faculty Affairs leadership team, contributing to a professional and compassionate environment in all interactions with the university community.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proficient knowledge of relevant state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Extensive experience in collective bargaining contract management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening, to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Advanced analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources or academic personnel management.
  • Proven experience in a collective bargaining setting.
  • Demonstrated success in conflict resolution practices.
