Shelter Operations Coordinator

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a highly skilled Shelter Support Specialist to join our team at The Salvation Army USA Central Territory. As a key member of our shelter staff, you will be responsible for providing oversight to shelter guests, completing necessary paperwork, and ensuring a safe and harmonious shelter atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure daily paperwork is completed accurately and in accordance with procedure.
- Maintain shelter policy without discrimination, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
- Assist with menu planning and preparation, ensuring a balanced and nutritious diet for our guests.
- Supervise common areas, dorms, lounges, clothing closet, and laundry room, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- De-escalate conflict and manage crises as necessary, utilizing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Perform daily resident/security checks on guests, rooms, and exterior of the building, ensuring the safety and security of our guests.
- Conduct general office duties, including answering the phone, filing, typing, record keeping, and recording shift summaries.
- Attend all trainings and staff meetings as directed, staying up-to-date on the latest policies and procedures.
- Clean and maintain the shelter, including laundry, as required.
- Accurately track resident medications under the supervision of The Salvation Army.
- Clean empty rooms as needed, ensuring a smooth transition for new guests.
- Communicate shelter supply needs to maintenance or corps officer, ensuring a well-stocked and functional shelter.
- In the absence of the cook, perform kitchen duties, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Help resolve conflicts between residents, promoting a peaceful and respectful shelter community.
- Remain on duty until replacement arrives, ensuring continuity of care and support.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Handle donations as needed, ensuring they are properly received and distributed.
- Ensure client chores are completed in a timely fashion, promoting a sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Process in-take and exit paperwork as needed, maintaining accurate records and ensuring a smooth transition for guests.
- Assist with shelter and social services laundry upon request, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
