We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Wheeling Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures. This is a 13-week contract position, and we are looking for a candidate who is certified and experienced in sterilization duties.
Responsibilities- Pre-Operative Preparation: Assist in preparing the operating room for procedures, including setting up equipment and ensuring that all necessary supplies are available.
- Scrubbing and Assisting: Scrub in for surgical procedures and assist the surgical team as needed, including holding retractors and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Instrument Management: Manage and maintain surgical instruments, including cleaning and sterilizing them after use.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure that all necessary information is shared and that the procedure runs smoothly.
- Post-Operative Care: Assist in the post-operative care of patients, including cleaning and dressing wounds and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification is required. IAHCSMM or CBSPD certification is preferred for sterilization duties.
- Experience: Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care setting is preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or a related field is preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively is also required.
The Surgical Technologist will work in a fast-paced operating room environment, assisting in a variety of surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize tasks to ensure that the procedure runs smoothly.
