The successful candidate will provide scientific and strategic leadership in the development of translational biomarker strategies, plans, and implementation for Inflammation and Autoimmune (AI) diseases programs in preclinical and clinical stage development. This is a highly visible, strategic, and matrixed role that requires strong leadership and collaboration skills.

The Director Translational Biomarker Lead Inflammation/Autoimmune Disease will be responsible for leading the Translational subteam (TST) and partnering with Gastro-Intestinal drug discovery unit (GI-DDU) research and physician scientists to identify and validate biomarkers relevant to patients in clinical studies. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing translational biomarker plans as part of the overall Asset Strategy in the Discovery and Global Product Teams through all stages of clinical development and post-market activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement translational biomarker strategies and plans for Inflammation and Autoimmune (AI) diseases programs in preclinical and clinical stage development.
  • Lead the Translational subteam (TST) and partner with Gastro-Intestinal drug discovery unit (GI-DDU) research and physician scientists to identify and validate biomarkers relevant to patients in clinical studies.
  • Develop translational biomarker plans as part of the overall Asset Strategy in the Discovery and Global Product Teams through all stages of clinical development and post-market activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical development, regulatory, and commercial, to ensure alignment and effective implementation of translational biomarker strategies.
  • Represent Takeda in scientific and industry forums to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in translational biomarker research and to promote Takeda's expertise in this area.
Requirements:
  • PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 10+ years of experience, or MS with 16+ years of experience, or BS with 18+ years of experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in translational biomarker research.
  • Outstanding expertise and depth of knowledge within inflammation and Autoimmune diseases translational and biomarker space.
  • Recognized expertise in biomarker discovery and development and Translational Medicine as demonstrated by publications, regulatory submissions, and/or national or international presentations.
  • Excellent understanding of drug development, regulatory processes, and clinical development.
  • Strong leadership abilities and proven ability to lead a team within a matrix organization as well as work independently.
  • Strong analytical, oral, and written communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
