Role Overview
The Peer Support Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the support system for consumers and their families. This position involves:
- Utilizing personal Recovery Lived Experience to assist families and consumers in establishing their Recovery goals.
- Facilitating the development of essential skills and knowledge necessary for the consumer's recovery journey.
- Collaborating with the clinical team to implement effective care coordination strategies.
- Engaging with community leaders to create culturally competent programs that promote recovery and resilience.
- Providing direct support to consumers transitioning from intensive care settings.
Key Responsibilities
As a Peer Support Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the implementation of comprehensive training programs for peers, families, and staff.
- Communicating effectively on clinical policies and program evaluations.
- Identifying consumers who may benefit from peer support and facilitating their access to services.
- Participating in treatment planning alongside consumers and families.
- Recruiting and empowering consumers and family members to engage in organizational initiatives.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- Active Peer Recovery Specialist or Peer Support Specialist certification in Kentucky or the ability to obtain it within 12 months.
- Experience with community resources and a proven proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A valid Kentucky driver's license and reliable transportation.
- The ability to work effectively within a team and engage with diverse populations.
