ProMedica Toledo Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by processing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Decontaminate, inspect, and maintain reusable instruments to prepare them for sterilization.
  • Participate in cost containment initiatives and safety by monitoring instruments and identifying those in need of repair.
  • Prepare designated reusable supplies, instruments, and equipment in the proper quantity and layout to meet the requirements of physician and medical/surgical needs.
  • Wrap designated supplies according to technical specifications to ensure sterility during handling and/or through its shelf life.
  • Assure processed items meet technical standards and decontamination through the use of control procedures in the cleaning process.
  • Operate the Custom Ultrasonics machine following the manufacturer's operational instructions.
  • Respond to patient care requests for delivery of processed supplies and instruments.
  • Clean and test patient care equipment between each patient use.
  • Complete Bio-Medical service request forms for any malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assist in other quality assurance monitoring and daily audits and complete daily work sheets.
  • Process linen, including sorting, folding, counting, stacking, and packing according to departmental policy.
  • Label instruments clearly and correctly following departmental policy and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • Requires on-the-job training to learn technical procedures and become familiar with a broad range of medical surgical items.
  • Must be able to understand directions and communicate and respond to inquiries.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to input and retrieve information from a computer.
