Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Patient Care Specialist to join our team at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support in a fast-paced endoscopy environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in preparing patients for designated procedures as requested by physicians.
- Assist physicians during endoscopy procedures.
- Handle patient specimens per policy.
- Accurately complete laboratory slips and culture/path slips as requested.
- Report observed changes in patient condition to the Endoscopy/Recovery Room nurse.
- Restock supplies as appropriate for the next procedure or end of the day.
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the endoscopy suite according to patient, physician, and procedure requirements.
- Ensure high-level disinfection and/or sterility of instruments and supplies according to policy and procedure.
- Follow manufacturer's instructions for use for all steps of cleaning, high-level disinfection, or sterilization for instruments and/or equipment.
- Assist with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies.
- Proactively participate in QAPI and Safety Programs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to the Code of Conduct.
- Comply with center policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate a caring, respectful, sensitive, tactful, compassionate, empathetic, and tolerant attitude.
- Provide a safe environment for patients.
- Communicate safety concerns appropriately, following the Chain of Command.
- Legibly document when necessary in the performance of the job.
- Promote patient and physician satisfaction.
- Practice appropriate aseptic techniques and sterile processes as appropriate to the endoscopy suite.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Observe universal precautions.
- Refer situations beyond ability or function to the proper person.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Attend all required education.
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team.
- Exhibit a high level of integrity.
- Maintain flexibility and perform other duties as required.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education as required.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturer's instructions or instructions for use.
- Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions, and professionally interact with managers, employees, clients, vendors, and the general public.
The Ambulatory Surgery Center is a well-lit, ventilated, and climate-controlled environment. The center may require decreased lighting to meet patient care needs or procedure requirements, such as laser rooms and some OR/Procedure rooms. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate. There may be exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids and materials or toxic chemicals and cleaning solutions. Procedure rooms are often small and may have little room to work around, necessitating reaching, pulling, pushing, and working in close proximity to patients and co-workers.
