Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Meds. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in creating compounded medication under the supervision and direction of a pharmacist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving and processing medication orders, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Measuring and mixing raw material ingredients, monitoring temperatures and parameters to ensure finished batches meet specifications.
  • Transferring materials into properly labeled, approved containers, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Completing compounding and other pharmacy records, adhering to USP guidelines and company quality standards.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of USP guidelines, ensuring compliance and quality in all aspects of compounding.
  • Preparing labels and picking in accordance with dispensing orders, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Preparing prepackaged and unit dose drugs, adhering to dispensing orders and quality standards.
  • Organizing workload to facilitate accomplishment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Ensuring the compounding room and related equipment are cleaned and maintained per organizational policy and procedures.
  • Participating in department QA activities, contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Following Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines, maintaining safety and managing safety events.
  • Demonstrating general knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), adhering to guidelines and protocols.
  • Properly cleaning up hazardous medication spills, utilizing established safety protocols.
  • Safely disposing of hazardous wastes generated during medication preparation.
  • Routinely checking for outdated or soon to expire chemicals and compounded products.
  • Using proper garbing techniques, adhering to SOP guidelines.
  • Effectively preparing and organizing all compounded products for pharmacist review.
  • Working closely with the Quality Assurance Department to ensure product sterility, potency, and absence of endotoxins.
  • Assisting the pharmacist-in-charge and pharmacist with any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Technician Registration in Good Standing with the applicable board of pharmacy.
  • Compounding and/or laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of USP Chapter Guidelines.
  • Ability to operate computer and laboratory equipment.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a team.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to perform rudimentary mathematical calculations as related to compounding.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff as designated by the pharmacist-in-charge.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work on your feet for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to repetitively use hands, wrist, and arms to perform job duties.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of force in order to lift, carry, pull, and/or move objects as required.
