Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) Lead to join our manufacturing team. This role is integral to the leadership at our new chemical production facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE regulations and Syngenta standards within a biological chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Oversee the establishment and training of the site Emergency Management Team and ensure effective implementation of emergency response plans.
  • Develop and enhance a comprehensive HSE program, including management systems tailored for the site.
  • Conduct risk assessments for projects affecting HSE, including changes in processes and new constructions.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of all necessary regulatory reports.
  • Perform regular HSE site inspections and ensure that action items are addressed promptly.
  • Provide HSE training and guidance to all personnel, including contractors and visitors, fostering a culture of safety.
  • Coordinate required industrial hygiene monitoring and maintain relevant records.
  • Engage in incident investigations and ensure thorough reporting of all safety-related events.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support HSE initiatives across the organization.
  • Assist management in operational and capital budget planning related to HSE.
  • Maintain a visible presence on-site through regular inspections and walk-throughs.
  • Engage with community organizations and professional groups to promote HSE practices.
  • Oversee the operational aspects of the site security program.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, preferably in HSE or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in HSE roles.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Proven ability to conduct HSE audits and risk analyses.

Preferred:

  • Experience applying HSE regulations within a corporate framework.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential risks across the site.
  • Strong communication skills for disseminating HSE information and metrics.

Physical Requirements

Must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, walking long distances, and standing for extended periods. Climbing stairs and ladders is also required, along with passing medical clearances for specific safety equipment.
