Patient Care Technician

Medix offers a unique chance for motivated and caring professionals to secure a temp-to-perm position as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) / Nursing Assistant in Greenport, New York. This role involves assisting patients with tasks they are unable to perform independently, including mobilization, walking, bathing, eating, and communication.
About the PositionThe successful candidate will work under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care, safety monitoring, and maintain a therapeutic environment for all patients.
- Collect specimens, draw blood, monitor blood glucose levels, and obtain EKGs.
- Taking vital signs and documenting intake/output data.
- Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
- Performing safety rounds and providing constant patient observation.
- Responding to patient call bells and engaging patients in meaningful interaction and activities.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Answering phones and conducting property and environment searches.
- Ordering, maintaining, and putting away supplies.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Candidates should possess:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required. PCT certification preferred.
- Prior experience in a nursing assistant role in a hospital, nursing home, or ambulatory setting is preferred.
- Ability to lift or assist with lifting patients, respond to emergencies, use stairs in emergent situations, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
