Position Overview:
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is required to be fully licensed in Texas to manage all aspects of staff training and the execution of intervention strategies for children with autism, either on-site or in home settings. Candidates should possess significant experience working with children in various environments, leadership capabilities, and a strong commitment to supporting families of children on the autism spectrum.
Assessments will aid individuals and their families by coordinating and delivering services in Applied Behavior Analysis. The Behavior Analyst will also supervise the programming of associate behavior analysts and provide continuous support and guidance to Direct Support Professionals (DSP) regarding the execution and documentation of Behavior Support Plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all clinical operations, including client onboarding, programming, and training
- Deliver clinic-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children, developing tailored treatment plans based on assessments and data analysis
- Supervise and provide direct training to Behavior Technicians (BTs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs)
- Educate parents, educators, and other professionals on implementing support plans for challenging behaviors
- Function in a supervisory role, overseeing all programming areas, including training of direct support professionals and consultants
- Assist in the creation, facilitation, and follow-up training in Applied Behavior Analysis, utilizing both discrete trial training and natural environment training methodologies.
- Facilitate the development and identification of resources and support information for clients and their families
- Provide model teaching and direct instructional support, including practicum supervision, class instruction, and in-service training for other support professionals
- Assist in the creation and implementation of assessment tools, conducting functional assessments and analyses when necessary, and developing suitable behavior strategies to promote appropriate behavior and mitigate maladaptive behaviors
- Offer ongoing support and training to direct support professionals, ABA implementers, and other individuals in supportive roles for families
- Continuously train and supervise paraprofessional staff in the application of ABA principles and behavior reduction strategies
- Establish an ongoing data collection system to determine baseline and program effectiveness for all clients, analyzing data regularly to inform programming
- Develop behavior plans/treatment plans for all clients, focusing on teaching and other proactive strategies to reduce problematic behaviors
- Meet as necessary with supervised staff to discuss ongoing client issues and provide support as needed
- Review and approve behavior plan/treatment plan training for all field staff and provide field supervision when required
- Utilize designated platforms to enter session notes within 72 hours of each session
- Provide consultation services and maintain ongoing communication with all stakeholders (other supports, parents, community, and agencies)
- Stay updated with current literature, research findings, and resources. Continuing education courses to maintain BCBA certification are required (32 credits every 2 years)
- Maintain all data, documentation, and communication between personal care staff and families, providing ongoing feedback to relevant agencies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an internship and/or formal training in behavior analysis and instructional strategies related to clients with pervasive developmental disorders and their families
- Demonstrated competence in behavior management, instructional skills, communication, organizational skills, and interpersonal relations
- Ability to work with diverse clients regarding age and functionality with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of Discrete Trial Training (DTT) programming and implementation
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to operate office equipment as necessary for the role
- Prompt responsiveness to communications
- Flexible availability, including evenings
- Current on all required trainings/certifications
- Preferred: Driver's insurance on file with HR and reliable transportation
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Master's degree in Special Education or a related human services field is preferred
- BCBA certification for a minimum of 2 years, unless prior approval is granted
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally required to sit
- Frequently required to talk and stand
- Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
