Cloud Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer to join our team at Northramp. The ideal candidate will have experience with cloud architecture, networking, security, compliance, migration patterns, and tools.

The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for evaluating and implementing cloud-based solution architectures across AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP environments, ensuring scalability, security, reliability, and performance.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of cloud-native infrastructure, including virtual networks, security groups, and identity management services.

They will also have experience with DevOps practices and tools like GitLab, Jira, and CI/CD pipelines.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as knowledge of STIG compliance and remediation processes.

As a Cloud Engineer at Northramp, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including cloud migration, infrastructure as code, and security compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and implement cloud-based solution architectures
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or Python
  • Coordinate with Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to escalate and track issues to resolution
  • Provide conceptual cloud infrastructure design and assist developers with application development and implementation of cloud products and services
  • Create custom OS and application images for the cloud infrastructure
  • Automate the configuration of systems and applications
  • Assist with security and audit activities related to cloud infrastructure, ensuring compliance with STIG and other security standards
  • Provide technical and system engineering support for internal teams and customers
  • Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and application issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve problems
  • Evaluate and analyze system performance, issues, and metrics to recommend improvements
  • Provide escalation support for operational cloud services
  • Understand and troubleshoot virtual cloud architectures and layered application services, determining the root cause of issues
  • Participate in research projects, cost-benefit analyses, and information systems requirement assessments
  • Develop and maintain documentation of system configurations, topologies, and operational procedures
  • Stay updated with the latest cloud trends, certifications, and emerging technologies

Requirements:

  • Experience with cloud architecture, networking, security, compliance, migration patterns, and tools
  • Proficiency in AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP platforms
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of STIG compliance and remediation processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud certifications in AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP
  • Experience working with multiple CSPs
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools like GitLab, Jira, and CI/CD pipelines
