Housing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Housing Specialist/Leasing Agent to join our team at Express Employment. As a key member of our housing team, you will be responsible for determining eligibility for housing programs, calculating rents, and conducting reference checks.
Key Responsibilities:- Determine eligibility for housing programs, including HCV/Section 8, Public Housing, and Affordable Apartments.
- Calculate rents for admission, interim, annual, and special re-examinations.
- Review applications for completion and conduct reference checks.
- Brief applicants on program requirements and explain policies for admissions and continued assistance.
- Help families find suitable housing.
- Prepare and execute leases, Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contracts, and supporting documents.
- Maintain participant files and records for all housing programs.
- Verify participant income and family status.
- Review files for program compliance and ensure all documentation is current and accurate.
- Prepare and investigate damage claims.
- Compile information for rent reasonableness data.
- Review and assist in creating updates to housing policies and plans.
- Investigate complaints of program abuse and take appropriate action.
- Schedule and conduct appeals or hearings and explain procedure to participants.
- Remain current on housing regulations and policies.
- Attend required training and provide cross-training to other staff as needed.
- Maintain awareness of local social service agencies and community resources.
- Work effectively with all staff members.
Requirements:
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of one year of college courses or a degree in a related field, or one year of experience in the administration of public housing programs.
Working Conditions:
- M-F 8am-5pm.
- Tri-Cities location.
