Key Responsibilities:
- Perform assessments to determine students' motor skills, sensory processing, visual perception, and self-care capabilities.
- Collaborate with educational teams and families to create tailored treatment plans and objectives.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to improve fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities.
- Deliver therapy services in both individual and group formats, based on student requirements and IEP objectives.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to integrate therapeutic strategies into educational and home settings.
- Track student progress, document therapy sessions, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Engage in IEP meetings to contribute to the formulation of Individualized Education Programs.
- Provide guidance and support to educational staff regarding sensory strategies and assistive technologies.
- Stay updated on best practices and advancements in occupational therapy to enhance service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current state certification or license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Experience in a school or pediatric environment is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Understanding of educational regulations, including IDEA and Section 504.
- Commitment to diversity and cultural competence in working with a variety of student backgrounds.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a dynamic setting.
- Familiarity with technology for documentation and therapeutic practices.
