Cardiac Rhythm Specialist Job Description

Community Medical Centers is seeking a skilled Cardiac Rhythm Specialist to join our team in Fresno, California.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to monitor, detect, and accurately record heart rhythm patterns. As a Cardiac Rhythm Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing normal and abnormal ECG interval measurements, proper and improper pacemaker rhythms, and implantable defibrillator function.

Responsibilities
  • Observe and monitor patients' cardiac rhythms, differentiating between lethal and non-lethal arrhythmias and notifying the RN promptly of any arrhythmias.
  • Review patients' cardiac medication profiles and notify the nursing and medical staff of heart rhythm pattern variances or ECG interval variances that represent adverse reactions or toxic effects of medications.
  • Use calipers to measure rate and ECG intervals of patients' heart rhythm patterns on a graphic tape readout, analyze the heart rhythm, and record the information on patients' charts.
  • Record strips every 4 hours, or as needed, and maintain an adequate supply of monitoring supplies.
  • Report malfunction of the cardiac monitoring computer and central station equipment to the Manager and thoroughly clean patient monitor components.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required.
  • Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia Recognition or ECG/EKG interpretation course required.
  • 1 year of Unit Clerk experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and computer experience preferred.
  • BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • ECG - ECG Rhythm Exam Non-Clinical (Administered by CHS) required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position.
