Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Assist in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures, including setting up equipment and supplies, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
  • Scrub Assistant: Act as a scrub assistant for surgical procedures, maintaining aseptic technique and providing support to the surgical team.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure the proper functioning of equipment and supplies, including setting up and operating various types of equipment used during surgical procedures.
  • Patient Care: Provide basic patient care, including transporting patients and equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure seamless execution of surgical procedures.
  • Continuous Learning: Maintain knowledge of various surgical procedures and techniques, and participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date with best practices.
Requirements
  • Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
  • Experience: No experience required.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Visual/Hearing: Ability to see and hear with functional sight and hearing.
Working Conditions
  • Environmental Hazards: Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood, and body fluids.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Required to wear masks, gloves, goggles, and gowns.
