Veterinary Research Specialist

Job Summary
The University of Rochester seeks a highly skilled Veterinary Research Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for providing direct support to primate research projects, ensuring the health and safety of our non-human primate colony, and collaborating with researchers to design and implement research equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to primate research projects, including preparing and monitoring primates during anesthesia and paralysis for adaptive optics imaging.
- Ensure the health and safety of our non-human primate colony, including monitoring and decision-making surrounding post-operative complications.
- Collaborate with researchers to design and implement research equipment, including evaluating the performance of research equipment and making or recommending correctional design changes.
- Coordinate purchasing for non-human primate research, including requisitioning supplies and research materials.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology required.
- Four years as a practicing licensed veterinary technician with extensive surgical and anesthetic experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Federal and State Animal Welfare Regulations and current veterinary care standards required.
