Job Summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Health Worker to support the Pediatric Asthma Interventions Research program. This role will be responsible for coordinating community-based research interventions and engaging with caregivers and youth in the Rochester area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate asthma care and interventions in accordance with IRB-approved research protocols
  • Work closely with the RN coordinator to implement interventions and provide support to participants
  • Communicate with research participants, URMC personnel, and external organizations
  • Provide education and support to families and children with asthma
  • Assist with data collection, data entry, and data maintenance
  • Participate in identifying research questions and contributing to the grant application process
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent and 5-7 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field with 2+ years of experience
  • Completion of a Community Health Worker training program (preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations
  • Flexibility, empathy, and a commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth
Preferred Qualifications
  • BIPOC and/or historically minoritized/marginalized individuals, long-term city of Rochester residents, parents/caregivers of children (with or without asthma), and those familiar with Rochester city schools
  • Familiarity with local Electronic Health Record systems, databases, and REDCap (desired)
  • Trauma-Informed Care training/certification/knowledge (desired)
  • Spanish speaking (desired)
