Civil Engineer 2 Job Overview

GAI Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer 2 to join our team in the Civil and Environmental Business Sector. This role offers a challenging and fast-paced environment where you can develop professionally and grow in today's global landscape.

This position can be based in one of our offices across the United States.

About the Role
  • We are looking for an experienced civil engineer to lead project design tasks, including site grading and drainage design, access road design, erosion and sediment pollution control design, stormwater management design, preparation, and permitting.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and experience with computer programs like AutoCAD Civil 3D and analysis modules.
  • You will work collaboratively with other professionals, discuss requirements with team members, and ensure that work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
  1. Plan, design, and facilitate civil engineer project design tasks such as site grading and drainage design; access road design; erosion and sediment pollution control design; stormwater management design; preparation; and permitting.
  2. Undertake technical and feasibility studies.
  3. Collaborate with other professionals and discuss requirements with team members.
  4. Use computer programs to develop detailed designs.
  5. Ensure that work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements.
  6. Perform work under guidance from professional engineering staff.
  7. Handle basic to moderate issues and problems but will refer complex issues to more experienced staff.
  8. Possess strong working knowledge of civil engineering design tasks and a positive attitude.
  9. Possess strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and analysis modules.
  10. Perform moderate to complex civil design tasks while delegating more routine tasks to staff with less experience.
  11. Mentor, guide and check the work of less experienced staff.
  12. Strong team collaboration, oral and written communication, design expertise, and problem-solving skills are required.
  13. Adhere to safety and quality procedures of GAI and our clients.
  14. Travel to other offices/meet with clients/attend project-specific meetings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (required).
  • 6+ years of experience in planning, designing, and facilitating civil engineer project design tasks (required).
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License (required).
  • Driver's License (required).
