Work Schedule: Daytime Hours

Role Overview: The surgical technologist plays a crucial role in preparing and managing surgical supplies, equipment, and the operating room environment. This position demands a solid understanding of surgical instruments, the capability to assemble intricate mechanical devices, and a thorough knowledge of anatomy. Strong anticipatory skills and dexterity are essential. The surgical technologist also stays updated on new products, procedures, and techniques used by physicians. This role supports various surgical services to ensure a safe and effective environment for patients and staff, all under the supervision of a registered nurse and the operating surgeon.

Key Contributions:

  • Collaborates with team members to ensure the availability of necessary supplies and instruments for all procedures, utilizing preference cards effectively.
  • Exhibits strong communication skills, maintains patient confidentiality, and interacts professionally with all stakeholders.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and policies, including Universal Protocol and waste management, while maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in all relevant procedures and techniques, ensuring proper use of instruments and equipment.
  • Shows adaptability to changing work assignments and proactively assists colleagues with minimal supervision.
  • Understands and applies aseptic techniques in accordance with industry standards.
  • Assists in the preparation of instruments for decontamination or sterilization as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technician.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
