Role Overview:
The Surgical Nurse Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the surgeon during surgical procedures. Key responsibilities include planning, administering, and overseeing nursing activities for the surgical patient. This role ensures a safe and sterile environment throughout the surgical process. Adherence to Adventist Health System Corporate Compliance Plan and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations is essential.

The Surgical Nurse Assistant collaborates closely with the surgeon to ensure a safe operating environment, aiming for optimal patient outcomes.

This position requires expertise in peri-operative nursing and necessitates specific knowledge, skills, and judgment. The Surgical Nurse Assistant operates under the surgeon's supervision during the intra-operative phase of the surgical experience.

When not engaged in First Assistant duties, the Surgical Nurse Assistant may also perform scrub or circulating roles.


Value You Bring to the Team:
· Applies knowledge and skills to deliver safe and effective nursing care.
· Executes delegated activities from the physician related to medications, treatments, and diagnostic measures.
· Familiarizes with available supplies and equipment, utilizing them efficiently within the operating room.
· Prepares and maintains both sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment, assisting with room cleaning, restocking, and supply updates.
· Maintains thorough and accurate records of each patient's procedures as per established protocols.

Qualifications for Success:
· Expertise in Perioperative Nursing
· Completion of an accredited RNFA program (exception: CRNFA certified prior to 1998)
· One to two years of general nursing experience in an acute care environment.
· Current RN license in Florida is required.
· Preferred: Five years of nursing experience in the relevant specialty.
· Preferred: CNOR, CRNFA certification.
