Ideal Candidate Profile

We are in search of an exceptional Quantitative Software Engineer who is enthusiastic about developing state-of-the-art solutions to enhance our expanding quantitative operations at Farrer Capital Management.

In this position, you will work closely with the Quantitative Team, including Portfolio Managers, researchers, and engineers, to transform research concepts into deployable trading strategies.

Your responsibilities will include building research infrastructure (encompassing market data, backtesting, and computational resources) and improving our trading platform (which includes position management, risk controls, strategy frameworks, deployment, visualization, and observability).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement solutions that translate research concepts into effective trading strategies.
  • Develop and enhance research infrastructure and trading platforms to facilitate high-performance trading, including components for alpha estimation, risk modeling, and backtesting.
  • Create tools for signal integration, simulation, portfolio construction, research frameworks, and dashboards.
  • Diagnose and resolve system-related issues, managing the release of code updates and enhancements.
  • Produce clean, well-structured, and thoroughly tested code that adheres to high engineering standards.
  • Ensure code reliability and performance in a high-pressure trading environment.
Candidate RequirementsAbout You
  • Master's degree in Financial Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Python programming.
  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles, emphasizing clean and well-tested code.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a solid grounding in probability and statistics.
  • Experience with critical production code and a keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with FX, Futures, or Options trading is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience with systematic trading strategies or trading platforms (systematic, high-frequency trading, or execution) is beneficial but not essential.
  • Background in areas such as Distributed Computing, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Quantitative Finance, Data Mining, High-Performance Computing, or Time Series Analysis.
